It is an efficient way of generating high pressure hydraulic fluid. Its operation is quite simple. Pressurized hydraulic air or oil-enters the intensifier and acts on a confined piston. This in turn drives a smaller diameter ram or piston to deliver a given volume of fluid. As a result, the output pressure is intensified and is considerably higher than the input pressure.
